Q: What is the difference between SPC and LVP/LVT?

A: SPC (Stone Polymer Composite) has a rigid stone-and-polymer core, making it extremely stable and resistant to indentation — ideal for high-traffic areas and Singapore's humidity. LVP/LVT (Luxury Vinyl Plank/Tile) has a slightly more flexible core that offers a softer underfoot feel and excellent design realism. Both are 100% waterproof. SPC is generally recommended for living areas and kitchens; LVP/LVT suits bedrooms and spaces where comfort underfoot is a priority.

Q: Is your vinyl flooring safe for children and pets?

A: Yes. Our products are phthalate-free with low VOC emissions, certified to meet indoor air quality standards. The textured wear surface also offers good slip resistance, making it suitable for homes with young children and pets.

Q: Do I need an underlay for SPC flooring?

A: Most of our SPC planks come with a pre-attached IXPE underlay, which provides sound absorption and minor subfloor levelling. If your subfloor has significant irregularities, our installation team will advise on additional preparation needed.

HDB & Regulatory

Q: Is vinyl flooring approved for HDB flats in Singapore?

A: Yes. Vinyl flooring is fully permitted in HDB flats across dry areas (living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, corridors). For BTO flats, note that HDB prohibits replacement of wet area floor tiles (kitchen, bathrooms) for the first 3 years from the date of collection. For resale flats, replacement of floor finishes in wet areas requires prior written approval from HDB and must be carried out by an HDB Registered Renovation Contractor (RRC).

Q: Do I need HDB's approval before installing vinyl flooring?

A: For dry area overlay installations (e.g. click-lock SPC over existing tiles), prior HDB approval is generally not required. For full hacking and replacement of existing floor finishes — particularly in wet areas — written approval from HDB is required before works commence. Q: Can vinyl flooring be installed in a strata-titled condo?

A: Most condo Management Corporations (MCSTs) permit vinyl flooring, especially SPC with pre-attached underlay, as it meets typical Impact Isolation Class (IIC) and Sound Transmission Class (STC) requirements. You should check your condo's house rules or submit a renovation declaration to your MCST before works begin. We can provide product spec sheets to support your application.

Installation

Q: Can vinyl flooring be installed over existing tiles?

A: Yes — our SPC click-lock planks can be installed directly over most existing tile, concrete, and timber subfloors, provided the surface is clean, dry, and reasonably level (within ±3mm over 1.8m). This overlay method avoids costly hacking, reduces renovation time, and generates less debris — a significant advantage in Singapore HDB settings.

Q: How long does installation take?

A: A standard 4-room HDB (approx. 90 sqm) typically takes 1 to 2 days. Larger homes or those requiring subfloor preparation may take longer. We will provide a clear timeline during your consultation.

Q: Will there be a lot of dust and noise during installation?

A: Click-lock SPC installation is largely dust-free and generates minimal noise compared to tile hacking. If hacking of existing flooring is required, dust and debris will be managed by our team with protective sheeting. We follow standard renovation hours permitted under Singapore regulations (Mon–Sat, 9am–6pm; no Sunday or public holiday works).

Maintenance & Durability

Q: How long will vinyl flooring last?

A: With proper care, our SPC and LVP products typically last 15–20 years in residential settings. Factors that affect lifespan include foot traffic levels, exposure to direct sunlight (UV degradation), and maintenance habits.

Q: How do I clean vinyl flooring?

A: Day-to-day: sweep or vacuum (soft brush head, no beater bar) to remove grit and debris. Weekly: damp mop with a pH-neutral floor cleaner diluted in water. Avoid steam mops, harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, and excessive water pooling. Do not use wax or polish — it creates buildup that dulls the surface over time.

Q: Is vinyl flooring scratch-resistant?

A: SPC flooring has a wear layer (typically 0.3mm–0.5mm thick) that provides good resistance to everyday scratches from furniture legs, pet claws, and dropped objects. We recommend using felt pads under furniture legs and an entrance mat to trap grit from shoes, which is the most common cause of surface wear.

Pricing & Process

Q: How much does vinyl flooring cost in Singapore?

A: Pricing depends on product grade, thickness, and floor area. As a general guide, supply-and-install for our SPC range starts from approximately $4–6 per sqft. A detailed quotation based on your actual floor plan will be provided after consultation — there is no obligation to proceed.

Q: What is the payment process?

A: We typically collect a 50% deposit upon confirmation of order and commencement of works, with the remaining 50% due upon project completion. We accept PayNow, bank transfer, and credit card (credit card payments may incur a processing fee).

Q: Do you provide a warranty?

A: Yes. Our premium SPC products carry a 15-year product warranty against manufacturing defects. Installation workmanship is warranted for 1 year.
